As 2017 draws to a close, Newman Smith and Joe Will will be celebrating more than just the end of Canada’s 150th birthday.
They’ll also be raising a toast – likely with a glass of their exceptional Terroir Reisling – to mark the 20th birthday of their own Strewn Winery.
Located on 10 acres in the heart of the Niagara wine region, next to Four Mile Creek, Strewn has become renowned for crisp sauvignon blancs, fume blancs, Gewurztraminers, viogniers and Rieslings, as well as their elegant and aromatic cabernet sauvignons, cabernet francs and merlots.
“This is a very unique business, there’s always something new,” notes co-owner, Newman Smith.
“For our part, I think we’ve been successful in giving the consumer what they like.”
Those luscious Strewn whites, available in grocery stores and more than 200 LCBOs across Ontario, will also be available for sampling on the Tasting Floor at the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival, Nov 3-5.
“We think the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival is one of the best,” says Newman, “so that’s why we’ve come back, year after year.”
