Stray Dog Brewery
It’s not that the trio behind Stray Dog Brewing Company is deliberately inciting revolution.
Then again, one of the brews they’ll be pouring at the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival does reflect their attitude to the 9-to-5 grind.
“We always said that when we quit our full-time jobs to make beer, we’ll make the beer called Quit Your Job,” laughs Marc Plante, co-owner of the Orleans-based microbrewery with Justin MacNeill and Jen Benay.
And the time is ripe. Both men recently left their media relations positions to turn their hands to their business, which offered its first brew in November of last year.
Since then, they’ve churned out cheekily-named but deliciously crafted beers like Shaggin’ Wagon and This One. Both will be at the festival on the Tasting Floor.
And as for the company name? There’s a story there, too.
“It’s a metaphor. Everyone has metaphorical chains, like a mortgage. But stray dogs are free to follow their dreams. And that’s what we’re doing by leaving our fulltime jobs. We took a risk,” says Marc,” and we want to inspire others to do the same.”
Stray Dog Brewing Company beers will be available with sampling tickets on the Tasting Floor throughout the festival.
