It was the kind of moment that calls for a stiff drink.
Fortunately for the owners at King’s Lock Distillery, there was drink to be had.
This summer, after just one year in business, the small distillery an hour south of Ottawa got word that, out of 1500 international entries, their Thousand Islands Moonshine won bronze at the most authoritative and influential spirits competition in the world: The International Spirits Challenge.
“We were elated, overwhelmed. There were rum companies there who’d been in business for centuries. It was almost surreal, but it made us feel even more confident of our products,” says Laura Bradley, co-owner with Rob Heuvel and Joe Kelly.
Fans of the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival will have a chance to taste the award-winning spirit, together with five other products by King’s Lock. The products are also available at limited LCBO locations.
